Restaurant and Cafe Solo in St. Augustine

This had to be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We initially wanted to dine at Cellar Six but they were completely booked so we figured we would try this place out. The restaurant was fairly empty and normally you can't go wrong with Italian food. Big mistake. They didn't greet us when we walked in. Once we sat down they took forever just to take our drink order. Then another 20 minutes to take our actual order. I was with a party of six and our meals came out one at a time and about 10 minutes apart. They brought our appetizer out last and never offered to refill our drinks. When we put in an order for two meatballs they told us we would have to wait 45 minutes to order anything else because the chef was too frazzled. The taste and quality of the food was very disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We absolutely love this place! The food, the owners, the service, and the prices!The Chef is very passionate about his food, and many of his customers seem to be very happy to wait for their food as the Chef cooks the food according to when the order arrives. We were a party of 7 and we felt that it was worth it to wait. The Asian lady - his wife - is a very gracious lady and she made us feel very important.Fully recommend this place and we would be sending our team from New York to have our Annual Dinner here.

I highly recommend the cafe solo. I had the homemade meat ravioli and my husband had the gnocchi with smoked salmon. Both dishes were superb. The staff was friendly and our waiter Leo was excellent. Don't pass this place up.

Went here for dinner one night. It was fabulous! We went back the next night for the world famous Tiramisu. It too was excellent. Got a cappucino. Can get beer. Always smiling and friendly service. Chef Angelo is an outstanding chef. For one man to prep and cook food for all patrons is unheard of in this day and age. He does it though and it's wonderful. Highly recommend this place.

The owner and his wife are awesome. I've never been to a restaurant in my life were I felt like I was at home. The owner talked to us for hours, he was so friendly and welcoming. I felt like I'd known him forever and him and my father in law, oh my GOD they laughed and cut up with each other the whole time. Great food, great service and a great time.The next time we come down from Tennessee we will definitely go see our friends at the Cafe Solo!

Picture the worst place on the face of the earth to eat, congrats you arrived. The service is awful they serve your party one dish at a time, it takes about 45 minutes to get one dish. When you have the audacity to complain, the cook, wouldn't call him a chef, degrades you, screams and curses at you and says this isn't McDonalds (don't know what McDonalds ever did to him but would rather eat there any day over this place). I tried to explain that I understand food takes time to cook but in any restaurant I think it is normal to expect your party to be able to eat together not have one person at a time be served and finish their meal before the next arrives. I should have read the other recent review they gave me the same excuse we only have one chef. If your having a great day in St. Augustine and you can't take feeling so happy and you need a downer this is your place, otherwise steer clear.

An Asian lady attenpted to serve us. She continued to speak about ordering single olayes for 2 people. Continued to speak loudly to her emoloyees. She was extreamly disrespectful. People were leaving the restaurant. She then got upset because we were asking about portions for 2. Incredible. We left wothout ordering. Worse service ever.

We went down specifically to eat here based on reviews. We made a reservation and I was very excited. We walk in and no one even acknowledged us. I push my way back to the register to get a table and I was finally greeted by an over Anxious waiter. Who said the food would be at least 45 minutes. I asked why and he said he only had one chef. I look back and the poor guy was so distraught. But I asked if when he could to clear an outside table. He did not even acknowledge me. So we sat at the dirty table for 5 minutes several waiters walked by and said nothing. Finally we just left. We saw a local outside and we told them. They said they would not eat there and recommended a place. So let down

We have been to nearly every Italian restaurant in St Augustine over the last 11 years as residents and as visitors 10 years prior. Finally decided to try Cafe Solo and had lovely time. Great service, lots of good food and one of the rare places to get BEEF ravioli, that's my husband's favorite! The Chef made an appearance and delivered a sampling of delicious potato soup, for us to try. Excellent - and not something my husband, usually, even likes! We'll be back, with friends and family.

The service in this restaurant was the absolute best! The chef created a special meal for my mother who is lactose intolerant! He came to our table to talk directly to her, the sweetest man ever! The restaurant had great energy and is located in the cutest street in St. Augustine, Florida. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting neat by!

Best Italian in St Johns Co. Nice place nice people passionate about their food. I am very fussy and I say best meal in 5 years anywhere. Love it!!

The best eggplant parm I've ever eaten! Fast service - wonderful staff - chef (owner maybe?) came to make sure we enjoyed our food. Sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. Just perfect all around.

Food was amazing. Chef checked on us twice and came outside for picture. Brought my 87 year old Mom who loves Italian food. We weren't disappointed.
